Ah well, if houses in Seattle are supernova, then bay area houses are hypernova. The multiplier is 2.0 to get the same house (I liken Bainbridge Island to Sausalito).

I know there is an international community in the valley. My dot bomb 1.0 was eTranslate - a company focused on i18n of web content. The office was about as diverse as the bridge deck of the Enterprise.

In the end, most of those people went home. The valley is OK, worth experiencing, but not someplace I'd want to try to build a life or a tech company.

Cool, I wouldn't. I've met many people who've lived in both places (one of my former boss's was French, my mom was German, so I always hung around a very international community in the valley).

My former boss went to London to work for Skype. He had a really tough time of it. Yeah, he liked a lot, but in the end the valley pulled him back in.

Oh, I've heard many people say the same thing about Microsoft and Seattle too (that we have inexperienced people here, that housing prices are too high, etc.)

Housing prices are going supernova here too. My house went from $290,000 to $450,000 in three years.
